Siglio titles illuminate two fascinating new exhibitions

June 15th, 2013

The Encyclopedic Palace, curated by Massimiliano Gioni for the Venice Biennale, features thirty-six abstract Tantric paintings from Rajasthan like those included in Siglio’s 2011 publication Tantra Song: Tantric Painting from Rajasthan, selected and with writings by Franck André Jamme.

In the U.S., An Opening of the Field: Jess, Robert Duncan and their Circle opened at the Crocker  Museum in Sacramento in June and will travel to the Grey Gallery at NYU early in 2014 before going on to the Katzen Gallery in Washington, DC with the tour ending at the Pasadena Museum of California Art in 2015. Siglio published O! Tricky Cad & Other Jessoterica in late 2012, a collection of collage master’s paste-ups, altered comics and artist’s books, that also serves as a unique window into Jess and Robert Duncan’s shared aesthetic concerns, their creative cross-fertilization, and the culture of their community with many of the works made as a gifts for friends. Edited by Michael Duncan, co-curator of Opening of the Field, it is the only book available that reproduces a large and highly legible selection of Jess’s work so that both image and text can be truly read.
